Refrito Spread

Total Time: 15 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups cooked well-drained black beans
  • 1 large onion, chopped well
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon green chili pepper, well chopped
  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Recipe

  • 1 mash the beans. it should make about 1 cup.
  • 2 sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic in oil.
  • 3 when the onion is done, add the spices and chili pepper. cook until the pepper is softened and the spices are fragrant.
  • 4 remove from heat and cool slightly.
  • 5 add to the mashed beans and mix.
  • 6 add cheese and salt and mix.
