Portabella Pizza

Total Time: 40 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 25 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 8 large portabella mushrooms
  • 1 lb italian sausage
  • 1 green pepper, diced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce or 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 tomato, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese

Recipe

  • 1 heat oven to 350ºf.
  • 2 wash mushrooms. remove, save and chop stems.
  • 3 brown the italian sausage.
  • 4 add chopped mushrooms, pepper and onion and cook until soft.
  • 5 spread each inverted mushroom cap with 1 t. marinara sauce.
  • 6 fill with sausage and vegetable mixture.
  • 7 bake at 350 f for 20 minutes.
  • 8 remove from oven and top each with tomato slice and 2 t. mozzarella cheese.
  • 9 sprinkle each with 1 t. parmesan cheese.
  • 10 bake 5 minutes more or until cheese is melted.
  • 11 be creative. use your favorite pizza toppings.
